Teaching Fellowship: Intentional Work

Have you ever wondered if your work matters to God? Have you ever wondered if the only work that God cares about is ministry? Just what does the Bible have to say about our earthly careers and vocations? If these questions pique your interest, join us this upcoming January for our next Teaching Fellowship class: Intentional Work. We'll spend 4 weeks applying the rich truths of Scripture to our working lives, as we strive to reframe how we approach our Monday-Saturday in the light of the biblical story and the Lordship of Christ.  If theology and/or classrooms make you nervous, don't fret! This will be a class full of application and discussion. Our goal is not to get lost in the theological weeds, but to seek and apply Gospel-wisdom for our everyday lives. This class will start on January 11th at 9:30am in classroom 154. Childcare available. Let us know you’ll be there by registering online or email hello@lakebaldwinchurch.com

History Happy Hour

"The Bible isn't even that original."

If you took a religion class in college, perhaps you heard the argument that the Bible, especially the Old Testament, "evolved" or "borrowed" from other ancient cultures, rather than being the inspired word of God.

The reality is, parts of Scripture sound similar to other ancient stories because they are! This spring, we'll see how the writers of Scripture, inspired by the Holy Spirit, reference and engage with opposing beliefs to show that the Lord God of Israel--not Baal, Ra, Asherah, or Molech--is the one true God. In other words, we'll tell the story of "God vs the gods."

We hope you'll join us on second Thursdays at 7:00 for History Happy Hour (the artist formerly known as Beer With Dead Guys). Starting February 12.
